1.  Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Hello my names is Regina Reaves, I’m 28, married with a 4 year old daughter. I’m a property manager.

2.  What sparked your interest in training?  regina front cute

I just got sick of purchasing bigger clothes every other month and feeling sluggish. I wanted to feel good about my appearance again and adopt a healthier lifestyle.

3.  How would you describe your body before you began training?

I carried a lot of weight in my upper body and let’s just say I was starting to get a little rounder than I’d like to be on my lower body. Overall I was just out of shape and carrying a lot of fat.

4.  Please describe a “typical” day for you? What is your daily routine like?

Typical day for me is heading to the gym at 4:30-5:00 am. Returning home, getting ready for work and getting my daughter ready for school. Work, sometimes train again after work depending on the day, eating dinner and getting my daughter ready for bed and then sleep no later than 9:30 pm.

5.  What is your currently weekly training routine?

Currently I train 5 days a week, off Saturday and Sunday.Monday-Legs/Back, Tuesday-Triceps/ Shoulders, Wednesday-Abs/Cardio for 30 minutes usually HIIT. Thursday- Legs/Triceps and Friday’s- Back and Biceps. I switch it up and don’t do the same exercises each time, my training will change monthly now based on my progress due to me competing in April. My coach switches it up.

6.  What is your favorite cardio or weights?

Weights hands down, but if you asked me that 7 months ago I would have said cardio, lol.

7.  Do you have a favorite body part to train? What exercise do you like to use for it?

Arms, love to do bicep curls and hammer curls with heavy weights!regina workout

9.  What does your diet consist of on a daily basis?

I eat very clean, no processed foods, plenty of veggies, watch my sodium intake.Big salad with lunch and dinner. Sweet potato’s, brown rice, turkey sausage, 1 protein shake a day, tilapia, chicken and red meat once a week. Three meals a day and one afternoon snack and usually some almonds for my morning snack.I basically have protein, a good complex carb, a fat, and plenty of veggies at each meal. No carbs with dinner, lean protein and veggies.

10.  How do you deal with cravings?

Sugar Free gum and picturing myself in a bikini, also drink plenty of water, fills you up. I’m up to 2 gallons a day sometimes but at the least a gallon.

11.  What is your favorite workout song?

” Motivation” T.I, gets me pumped!!

12.  What, if any, supplements do you take?

Currently just a multi vitamin and whey protein after weight training. Supplementation may change more closer to competition time in April.

13.  What attracts you the most about bodybuilding competitions?

I love to see different people of all shapes, sizes and races get together and do something they love! I also love competing and pushing myself to the next level and being able to see my accomplishments and hard work at the end.

14.  What keeps you motivated on tough days?

On tough days I literally picture myself on stage and my 4 year old cheering me on in the crowd. Motivates me to keep going!

15.  What are you most proud of?

I’m most proud that I’ve stuck to my goals this long and that I’m able to encourage and inspire others to reach their goals as well.

16.  What tips do you have for a beginner just starting out in the industry?

Stick with it, don’t give in, join a gym and talk to others who may share the same goals as you. Make a vision board to hold you accountable and try to get your immediate family involved, it will make the process easier and more enjoyable.

17.  What words of encouragement can you offer to women who believe this is a sport for only women without kids?

Believe me if I can do it with my insane schedule a full time job where I manage 4 people and 252 residents, a four year old and a husband…. YOU CAN DO IT TOO!!! Just make a plan and stick with it! Find what it is that motivates you and keep that as a constant reminder to keep you on track!

18.  What is next for you? What goals do you have in mind?

Well my first show is in April and I may do one more this summer. My husband and I would both love to become certified personal trainers and offer affordable training, so we are looking into certifications now. I ultimately want to continue living a healthy lifestyle and teaching my daughter to reach for her goals and that living a healthy lifestyle can be rewarding!

19.  It’s been a pleasure! Do you have any final words or a favorite quote to share with the readers of NaFiMo

Again if I can do it so can you, sounds so cliche but its the truth! And when you don’t see results right away don’t give up! They are right around the corner and you just have to keep pushing and stay consistent!!! Stick to your goals and keep digging deeper each time you train, it will pay off! Patience is so needed in your journey, I myself have and still do struggle with that from time to time. Peace!
